The Facts:
The teeth whitening trays are the most important component in a at-home dental whitening system. There are a vast variety of whitening trays on the market today. Most are subpar, which makes the whole kit a total waste of money. As part of our ongoing research and development, we test every tray sold in today's markets. Unfortunately, most manufacturers do not use the latest technology, shapes and polymers to create an effective and comfortable tray. They manufacture gel-trays from low cost materials and procedures without regard to effectiveness, comfort and thermoractivity. This means that most trays on the market are either too small, incorrectly shaped and made from inferior polymers
An effective at-home gel tray-based whitening system must contain custom moldable gel trays for your teeth. The whitening gel is required to stay in contact with the surface of your teeth for a length of time in order to be effective. Without the use of a moldable gel tray there will be problematic and inconsistent results. There are two types of moldable whitening trays, the ThermoFit (boil and bite) type and the CustomFit lab-created type. Both can be effective, but the dentist-lab created type will be considerably more expensive. Quality ThermoFit whitening trays will provide you with a soft, low-heat, clear tray that is easy to form, effective and comfortable to wear. Quality kits will provide you with three trays, just in case a mistake is made during the molding process.
Customizable:
An effective whitening gel-tray should be moldable to the individual for a custom fit. Either with a ThermoFit type or the expensive impression based dentist-lab created type. Premium teeth whitening diy gel trays can be formed as good as a dentist's.
Size:
A dental whitening gel-tray should be able to reach beyond all of your smile teeth, which, depending on the size of ones mouth is 8 to 10 teeth per arch. This is prior to thermo fitting.
Shape:
A gel-tray should have the correct shape to allow for total coverage, from the top of the tooth to the bottom. This is important for the front of the teeth and somewhat important for the back of the teeth.
Composition:
The special polymer blend of a gel-tray is very important. This will dictate the gel-tray's thermo fitting properties and comfort when wearing.
Clarity:
The best quality gel-trays will be very clear in color. This so that you can see the distribution of whitening gel when you place the tray over your teeth. Clear polymer blends indicate they have the best thermo fitting properties and are comfortable to wear.
Gel Tray Fitting Properties:
A moldable gel-tray needs to be able to be softened when placed in hot to boiling water. The best quality gel-trays require a lower temperature to form them and they tend to stay soft and comfortable after formation.
Forming Your Whitening Gel Trays:
You must form your mouthpieces (gel trays) in order to achieve the best results from your ProWhite Teeth Whitening System. This is a very simple process of heating the ProWhite Gel Tray in hot water so that it becomes soft and moldable. Keep in mind that you do not need a perfect mold of your teeth for your ProWhite Dental Whitening System to be effective. We provide one extra (3 trays) mouthpieces in each kit so that you can experiment with this process if needed.
Detailed Instructions for Molding ThermoFit Custom Trays
Loading the Mouthpiece with Whitening Gel:
When you are putting whitening gel into the mouthpiece it is best to put a thin layer of gel around the inside front of the tray (the part that contacts the front of your teeth). When you place the gel tray over your teeth the whitening gel will distribute itself in such a way that it comes in contact with the surface of your teeth. It may take a few applications and sessions to determine the right amount of whitening gel that is just right for you. Keep in mind it only takes a very thin layer of whitening gel on the surface of the teeth to be highly effective.
